It's September 11th here.
It’s eleven years to the day. We’re at the point where many of the men and women deployed to Afghanistan were in elementary school on that day. I don’t really know what to write but it’s sort of appropriate because even if I did I wouldn’t want to. Someone’s practicing for a ceremony nearby. They’re firing blanks in unison. I wince every time.

The greatest backhanded compliment
I had lunch with my old Platoon Sergeant a couple days ago. We deployed in different companies and randomly ran into each other on this giant FOB we’re temporarily at. In the DFAC a very pretty female Captain sat down at the table next to us. “Tell me you wouldn’t hit that.”  I laughed and shook my head. She was really pretty in spite of her mild acne and also her vagina....
